Leven First Responders

The Leven Neighbourhood First Responders went live from the 1st November 2006.

What this means is that if anyone from Leven, or one of the surrounding villages, calls 999 for an ambulance, although an ambulance will be despatched immediately, it is not always possible for the ambulance to be in attendance quickly, especially on a weekend, when they do not have much cover.

The ambulance control will contact the First Responders, and they will attend until the ambulance arrives. They are able to attend within five minutes of receiving a call.

All First Responders are fully trained in the use of a defibrillator, oxygen and other basic life support techniques.

More volunteers are required, and they are hoping to hold another training course in January, which only involves a couple of hours a night once a week. Training is held in Leven, and previous experience is not necessary.

If you would like more information or would like to attend the next training session, please ring Anita Sparrow on 01964 544 885.
