 Holy Trinity Church...

Holy Trinity Church was built on a site given by Sir Richard Bethel in 1843, some 1 1/4 miles away from the site of St Faith's Church.

Built of Yorkshire Gritstone with Westmoreland roofing slate, the church was built between 1843 - 1845 when it was consecrated, though the graveyard was not consecrated until later.

The church is a Grade II listed building and is host to the 13th century limestone baptismal font from St Faith's nave.  The font was originally painted black to give it the look of black marble.

Holy Trinity is also host to the 'Wayside Cross Head', which is believed to be the original head of the White Cross, the base and shaft of which stands on the outskirts of the village.

In addition, the church also houses fragments of a 9th century cross shaft, believed to have been a preaching cross, a 13th century Piscine, and a 19th century Royal Armorial Board, all from St Faith's church.

The church does have one significant 'claim to fame' - it is the first in England to have a stained glass window dedicated to football.

The church clock & bells were apparently installed to mark the Coronation of King Edward VII.

PCC (Parochial Church Council)
This is the council that generally run the church. It consists of people that hold specific positions within the church and general congregation members.

The current PCC as elected during May 2007 are:

Mr J Barry Richardson (Vice-Chairman, Treasurer & Churchwarden)
Mrs Lucy Mayo (Churchwarden, Playing Fields Representative & Wives Group Representative)
Mrs Sharon Hunt (PCC Secretary & Electoral Role Officer)

Mrs Claire Powers (Home Groups Rep)
  Mr John Hullah
Mrs Christine Lovewell (Foundation Governor at Leven C of E Primary School)

The PCC usually meet once every two months. It is a formal meeting and all PCC members are expected to attend. A copy of the agenda and minutes are usually available to view on the noticeboard next to the main door inside of the church.

Every year the PCC hold what they call an AGM (Annual General Meeting) and anybody from the public or church can attend this meeting. At this meeting a report from all PCC members is given and the Rector also makes an official statement from the church.

At this meeting is where new PCC members can be elected and where current PCC members can step down or resign if they wish.
