The school serves the
parishes of Leven and Catwick, and there are
currently 180 children on the roll, but this is expected to
rise with the planned housing developments in the village.
In May 2002 the school underwent
another re-modelling project, in which an extra classroom was
created, enabling the school to develop its ICT facilities.
There are currently seven classrooms, an ICT suite, staff
room, office suite, kitchen and hall. A low-level adventure
area has also been created recently, thanks to donations from
the Parish Council, the PTFA and a Hornsea based business.

In 2005, the school underwent yet
another new build expansion project which provided the
school with a new hall and kitchen, new car parking
facilities and a new playground sited at the rear of the
school.
The interior of the school was also
re-modelled and refurbished providing a new office,
staff facilities, store rooms, library and disabled
toilets.

The school has a teaching staff of ten
(full & part-time), nine teaching assistants and three
administration staff, five kitchen staff, a caretaker and a
cleaner. There is also a full time Nursery Nurse who is very
effective in her support of the Foundation Stage and liaison
with other Early Year providers.
They are supported by an enthusiastic
governing body and a hard working (PTFA). The school is also
responsible for the management of the school kitchen, which
not only provides a valuable service to our school community
but also provides meals for other local schools, and the
school buildings are often used in the evenings for Adult
Education classes as well as Parish Council meetings.

Extra-curricular activities
include ICT, guitar, recorder, hockey, athletics, netball,
football, science and maths, and each term, 'themed curriculum
weeks' are held, which are the focus of hall and corridor
displays.
The school has close links to the local
Anglican Church and the Methodist Lay worker runs a club in
the school for Key Stage 1 children. "We are committed to
the provision of a Christian foundation for the education of
our pupils."

School Achievements
During the summer of 2003, the school was
presented with the Basic
Skills Quality Mark for the second time, which reflects
the hard work of the teaching staff and their positive
attitude to both Numeracy and Literacy, and the school has
been "intensive" in both curriculum areas.
In January 2004 the school were awarded
the Heartbeat
Award for the quality of its school meals provision, after
inspections by Environmental Health Officers and the Health
Promotion Unit.
Since then, the school have notched up
further awards including the Sport
England Activemark, in recognition of PE and sports
provision.
The latest addition to the awards cabinet
is the National
Healthy Schools Award and the FA
Charter Standard, awarded to schools providing a
successful football development programme.
